My three meal courses
Mon amoureux and I play Rummy almost every weekend and we love it.
It is always more entertaining when you can win or lose something when it comes to playing the game. So in the last couple of months we decided to do a big tournament. The first to collect 120 points was deemed the loser. Since we have had bets before; winning was usually gained a date to favorite or new restaurant on the losers bill. This time we wanted to make it different this time; mainly to keep with a new year resolution to eat out less. So the conclusion was the looser would have to cook a three course meal for the winner on an agreed date.
And I won !!!
So this Saturday was my big dinner and I was really happy and quite surprised on how my boyfriend handled it. It all started with the appetizer: a salad with a homemade dressing that was made by a mix of broccoli, strawberry, balsimic vinger and sun dried tomatoes. It was served with amazing large grilled spiced with piri- piri scallops and topped off with fresh blue cheese. The combination of all those fresh ingredients was perfect.
The main dish was a filet sole with potatoes and spicy small jalapenos stuff with feta cheese (did I mentioned it was highly spiced?). The meal was delicious but it had a strong, slightly devious personality. We had a very good wine to compliement the meal. The fish was melting in my mouth but the jalepnos were too much to finish eating. Which was fine because I still had to have dessert...

Too bad we forgot to take a picture of the actual dessert which was a incredible home made hot chocolate with whisky! Wow it was so good, so rich and warm and amazing, and I can continue decribing how rich and good it was forever.. Anyway it was served with homemade Pilsbury (can I use the term homemade in that regards?) chocolate chip cookies.
It was a remarkable night, I was really delighted to see my man running the kitchen and of course, me doing nothing in the kitchen (not even the cleaning) that is always enjoyable.
We decided to choose the same goal for our next Rummy...
Hopefully, I’ll win again, i`ll keep you posted.

I'm sick
I eat something that was not good anymore yesterday night and since, I am super sick...
First time in my life a have food intoxication and it’s not fun at all. Yesterday night, I throw up like there was no tomorrow… I don’t like this sensation of feeling miserable in my bed with an upset stomach. The only thing I can do (base on my researches) is rest and stay hydrated, drink frequent sips of clear liquids. I need to get up and go by ginger .

Man Like You
Since I saw the last episode of Mange ta Ville: Inventé la suite, I’m obsessed with this Patrick Watson song.
I never really listen to his music, but wow, I really fall in love with this song!
Maybe it's because in the T.V show, the song was associated with a dance performance of Dave St-Pierre and its was sooo beautiful !I didn’t find a version of that last episode of Mange ta Ville, but ARTTV will be reposing it on Tuesday at 1h30 am. I definitely recommend this show; it’s worth it to be a little tired at work the next day...

I discover those mix and match pictures and I think it’s brilliant. The girl had a file full with street styling pictures and she decided to paired them with paintings, labels, nature…

Wish we have this in Montreal...
There is currently a trendy movement occurring in Los Angeles that has seen the marriage of books and bars. Yes, that’s right – drinking establishments that have lined their walls, and shelves, with everything from hardbound classics and modern novellas to law encyclopedias and philosophical tomes.
This place is call "The Wellesbourne" and it's in Los Angeles, a little bit too far for me now. But there is a chance this new trend Bars & Books will get close to me...

Okay,Okay I know, I am on a “diet” but it’s the weekend and if I’m already a few pounds up, why not embrace the moment and eat potatoes?
This simple dish is perfect for a cold evening and it was really easy to do. It is basically just a layer of potatoes I use three kind of potatoes; (one normal, one red and my favorite a sweet potatoe) with onion, cheese and fresh sage. We were so hungry that I forgot to take a pictures on the dish when it was ready and I only realized after two servings…needless to say it was a hearty healthy way to warm up and forget about that diet thing..
